Abisag
is a light stepped and modern KWPN mare of good rectangular
frame and quality limbs. Her trot is active and self carrying,
her canter rounded and uphill, accompanied by a good walk.
Purchased in Holland, Abisag was presented at the Keurings
on our behalf where she was awarded Ster status prior to being
imported to Scotland in August 2008.
In 2010 Abisag produced an exquisite filly foal "Solaris
Fabianna" by Solaris Buenno retained as a future brood
mare and in 2011 another daughter, "Solaris Galaxie"
by "Amoureux" sold at just a few days of age.
San Remo
Her sire, the Hanoverian stallion San Remo was licensed in
Verden, Germany, in 2001 by the Hanoverian studbook and gained
premium status. He was auctioned for DM145.000 and approved
by the KWPN in 2002. He commenced his dressage career with
Edward Gal. In 2003, as a 4-yr-old in the finals of the PAVO Cup,
he finished in fifth place. San Remo was much admired for
the suppleness and harmony of his paces and his expressive
presence in the arena which also earned him his second place
at the PAVO Cup Championships in 2004 earning his place at
Verden.
Wolkentanz I
In 1993 San remo's sire, Wolkentanz I, was Siegerhengst (Champion
Stallion) of the Hanoverian Verband completing a very good
Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf with a score of 140.53 points
for the dressage elements. Wolkentanz I is one of the top
progenitors in Hanover and amongst many others he sired the
World Champion of the Young Horses, "Wakajama" of
Holga Finke.

Weltmeyer
San Remo's paternal grand sire, Weltmeyer, was champion of
his licensing in Verden. The judging committee gave him the
top score of 10 for his trot, his canter stride was great,
earning a score of 9.5, the walk was ground-covering and earned
an 8.0. In addition, he received a 9.5 for conformation and
overall impression. Weltmeyer went on to win his performance
test at Adelheidsdorf with a dressage score of 143.94, but
just as impressively he gained a jumping score of 141.44.
Weltmeyer comes from the most successful dressage families
in the world, the ‘W’ line that begins with Woermann
who was the sire of "World Cup" (I to IIII) and
Wenzel I and II. In turn, World Cup is the sire of not only
Weltmeyer but also Walt Disney and Warkant. His dam, the Head
Stud Book Premium mare "Anka" was a daughter of
the part bred Trakehner Absatz which we also find in the dam
line of Laurie I and II.
Volturno
San Remo's dam sire, Volturno, is a son of the legendary
thoroughbred Vollkorn xx. His Oldenburg son, Volturno, (out
of a mare by the Thoroughbred, Manolette) was Champion of
his licensing and went on to be a member of the German Silver
Medal winning Eventing Team at the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games.
Volturno won over 20 international events before retiring
to Stud where he produced a number of licensed sons, including
Voltur, Voltaire, Volturnus and Valeur.
Maternal Damline
Abisag's breeder Gerardus Schievink has kindly provided
us with a little more insight into her family line. Her dam
"Nanda", a Ster mare by "Jacardo" (Zeolite
x G Ramiro Z) Nanda's 2008 foal "Darius" by Wonderboy
(Ramon x Elcaro) made the KWPN second round stallion selections.
Gracia
Her Grand Dam Gracia (Aktueel x Makelaar) was awarded Prestatie
status having produced the successful International dressage
horses: Stefano
(Sadrach) by Gribaldi ridden by Bart Veeze at Grand Prix ranking
166 worldwide in 2010 the Prix St Georges Dressage gelding
"Titus" by Welt Hit II ridden by Rhonda Dretel in
the USA and Sadrach's younger full brother Zabad is currently
competing at Z Level dressage. Others include the Ster mare
Marje by Havidoff and Obed full sister to Abisag's Dam Nanda,
and Zabad full brother to Stefano have both competed successfully
at medium level.
Grand dam sire Jacardo was placed in the top ten of the PAVO
Cup (Netherlands' prestigious Dutch Young Horse Championships)
as a four and five year old out of 350 horses in the division.
He went on to win the Stallion Competition Class M two years
in a row in 1996 and 1997 and competed successfully at Grand
Prix in 2004 with average scores of 65%, consistently scoring
8's on his piaffe, passage and tempi changes. His sire, Elcaro,
approved by the KWPN in 1989, obtained good scores as a potential
dressage horse but also showing aptitude as a potential jumper,
with 8.5 for his trot and a 9 for his temperament and stable
manners.
